For KJ's to keep their songs updated, they have to shell out a considerable amount of money that eats into what they earn. And if they in turn raise their prices, then many bars would opt out of Karaoke as a lucrative way to attract people to their establishment. Piano bars would begin popping up all over! It appears to me that public Karaoke has not found it's balancing point yet. I know as a consumer that it is hard to swallow paying $25 for a CDG full of songs where you may only find one or two you actually like or can sing. Some headway has been made in resolving that, in that several karaoke music companies now offer custom made CDGs for $1 a song.
