I checked out the $1 songs and found, well, there are only two places I know of to buy for that price - and that is through Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=sr_nr_i_6?rh=i%
amazon3Adigital-music%2Ck%3Akaraoke&keywords=karaoke&ie=UTF8&qid=1255452635

And Itunes. You don't get the graphics though, just the music.

Sound Choice does custom CDGS but They are in the process of revamping their site, so I can not get a link at this time.

TotalKaraoke does custom cdgs for $5 song, 5 song minimum.

I would feel a lot more secure if I knew that the lawyers were after only big time users like the HD peddlers or some of the monster collections I see on KI, but the stories in the press about the woman who downloaded only 24 songs (not karaoke) and was hit with a $1.92M judgement make me pause and think...."You've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky?

I wonder how much profit the karaoke companies made before the hard drive and internet piracy began? For KJ's to keep their songs updated, they have to shell out a considerable amount of money that eats into what they earn. And if they in turn raise their prices, then many bars would opt out of Karaoke as a lucrative way to attract people to their establishment. Piano bars would begin popping up all over! It appears to me that public Karaoke has not found it's balancing point yet. I know as a consumer that it is hard to swallow paying $25 for a CDG full of songs where you may only find one or two you actually like or can sing. Some headway has been made in resolving that, in that several karaoke music companies now offer custom made CDGs for $1 a song.

Wow! I had no idea Sound Choice was that big, or that piracy would affect it so much...
If you think about it, though, it makes sense.

well, to tell you the truth, I am bartending during the contest, so I am a little distracted. I can get the sense of the contest, but I soon forget the details. All I worry about is adding up the votes when they are done. The voting sheets do not have an area to actually list the song that was performed, soI'm sorry I can't help you with that.
(( maybe Jim and Angelique could answer that ,themselves ,on this board,,,,,, if they remember ))

Is Rocco's or Marie Callender's still doing it with kids? Maybe a good venue for a Karaoke KJ would be doing a show at Jungle Fun & Adventure, Chuck E' Cheese, etc... CM
