As you can see, the site is coming along, if slowly (emphasize, italicize, highlight, capitalize – SLOWLY!).  The blog you’re perusing is pretty well set, with ongoing entries from yours truly, and recently including contributions from our own resident SmartCooky. Overall, I’m reasonably pleased with the progress. The Karaoke Forum, on the other hand, needs some work. Nothing major, but it needs a little help. I’ll get to it…

 

At this point, however, I’m becoming less and less pleased with the “look and feel” of the site.  In the coming weeks (months?) I’ll be going to work on the design, layout, and usability of the site. There will be some shifting of the page order, the dropping of one or more pages and the addition of one or more pages, depending on factors such as usability, logical progression, and SEO considerations, among others.

To this end, I’d like to solicit comments and suggestions from our visitor(s).  Feel free to submit your thoughts on these (or any other) issues. This can be done in any of several ways:

• Leave a comment by clicking on the “Comments” link immediately beneath this post.
• Post a topic in the Forum – continue one of the existing topics, or start your own.
• Fill in and submit the form on the Home Page.

So for now, I’m going to retreat into my Karaoke Cave (kind of like a Bat Cave, but cooler and with better acoustics) to do some thinking, some research, and some design.  If you’re into Karaoke and conversant with page design and layout, php/MySql, SEO,  and/or css and (d)html, and would like to see a site like this succeed, it would make this wanna-be singin’ coder a much happier fellow.

 
For now, keep on belting ‘em out!

Although there’s still work to do, and whole sections to complete, the ‘Venues‘ page is coming along nicely and this humble attempt at a blog finally blends into the rest of the site. At this point in time, the KJ’s page is next on the list…

In the meantime, we’ll keep plugging away…

Well, this thing’s starting to come together, but s-l-o-w-l-y… I’m trying to work on the site as I get time. Being a world-class procrastinator probably doesn’t help production, but one does what one can. Actually, there’s a lot more work to be done, but overall I’m OK with look-and-feel, and the content is soon to come. I’m told that ‘JJ’ and ‘Chanteuse on the Loose’ will be contributing in the near future.

Right now, I’m working on fitting the forum page into the site, which is considerably tougher than it ought to be; I’m sure that’s more a reflection of my (lack of) skill level than on the software, but I’ll keep plugging away until it’s done.

After that, it will be time to set up a search function and rating system, after which will be the work of filling the database with actual venue and KJ info. That part will be relatively simple, but time-consuming.

As you may be aware, my goal for having the site ‘live’ and complete was the new year: That date has come and is long gone- so I’d better get on it!
